Google’s DoubleClick Acquisition gets final approval

Google acquired DoubleClick

Google can now officially claim DoubleClick after its $3.1bln acquisition last April. Although the deal received clearance from the US Trade authorities in december last yeat, the EU Commission has cleared the deal only now. Google is the market leader in online advertising and DoubleClick acquisition raised opposition by other industry players sighting monopoly.

Google provides online advertising space on its own sites (Google Search, Orkut, YouTube and others) & as operator of the AdSense service, an intermediary between publishers and advertisers, whereas DoubleClick offers ad serving, management and reporting services to publishers, advertisers and agencies. Combining the two would sharpen Google’s leading position in the online advertising arena.
