Yahoo expresses its concern for women through “Shine”
Yahoo! Inc. has come up with a completely new platform, Shine. It is a website, exclusively for Women folk. It has almost everything, that a women might need online. Basically, it deals in topics such as parenting, sex and love, healthy living, food, career and money, entertainment, fashion, beauty, home life, and astrology.

Shine is mainly targeted towards women of the women between the ages 25 and 54 and is called a key demographic underserved by current Yahoo properties.
A small and simple question?? Why did Yahoo! suddenly think of women? It has sites targeted towards almost every group - Sports, Finance and even Kids. The women were left out.
What is the profit of targeted sites??
Targeted websites help in providing better targeted ads for consumers. It has been found that the main decision in consumer-packaged goods, retail and pharmaceuticals are taken by women. And a site directly targeted to these decision makers have been in demand by the advertisers.
Amy Iorio, vice president for Yahoo Lifestyles, said internal research also shows women are looking for a site to aggregate various content and communications tools.
The launch of Shine is going to result into a discontinuation of the existing Food site. However, the Health site, is still to be continued.
As seen above, the look of Shine itself are women targeted. Utmost care seems to have been taken to make it completely for women. Every women, should fall in love a first sight, with this site. ;).
