Tata to set up a R&D centre in UK
The Tata Groups has finalised the plan to start a R&D plant in UK very shortly. The R&D centre proposed will be responsible for research & development activites for Tata Motors,Tata Consultancy Solutions,Tata Chemicals,Corus,INCAT,and the new tata takeovers of Jaguar & Land Rover.
At first this R&D is exclusively for automatives activities & in future the others company R&D will come under the same roof.The details of the investment & location will be finalised in the follwing weeks.
This centre is expected to become the major source of new launches by Tata. The location was choosen & plans were goin on the start the project , but soon after the acquistion of Jaguar & Land Rover , the location was changed because the Jaguar’s & Land Rover’s R&D is also located in the same area.
Tata Group Companies like TCS and Corus already have research centres in the UK, so it is likely the new R&D will focus more high-end innovation and basic research.
