Orkut, MySpace & Facebook are used for networking or recruiting

Social network providers like Orkut, MySpace, Facebook are changing into the hunting ground for job recruiters. These networks are no more just a place for hang-out , also a place for searching job.

A large number of people are using these kind of sites to stay in touch with their friends around the globe. Using this potential, the HRs of various major companies track people on these sites and find ways to recruit people. In these sites different skilled candidates are available. The HRs found it easy to hire the correct person from certain groups or communities, since many people of same stream can be found in a community.

“Growth of this new medium is rapid. In future due to huge Internet penetration and younger profile of our country expansion will further accelerate,” Manpower India Managing Director Naresh Malhan said.

Statistics show that 83% of people in networking sites are using these sites for staying in touvh with their friends, while the rest 17% of people stay for work related tasks.

“About 30 per cent of the job market in the country is represented by passive job seekers, while about just 15-20 per cent are very active,” HR service provider PeopleStrong CEO Pankaj Bansal said.
