Phillippines: Goldmine for desi pharma firms

There could be an eruption within the govervment-between the power and oil ministries, when the government will struggle to fend off opposition flak of the issue of gas supplies to units promoted by surface transport minister T R Baalu.Fifteen days before, T Sankaralingam wrote to power secretary Anil
Razdan to point out that the oil ministry has allocated about 60% of gas from Panna-Mukta-Taptifields to private entities even while the power ministry was talking to the oil ministry for additional gas for the state-owned generation utility.

Sankaralingam then wrote by giving the details of the oil ministry’s allocation that out of the total production of 17.3 mcmd(million cubic metres per day) of gas from PMT fields, agreements for supplies of 14.13 mcmd have been reached and there was no additional PMT supplies allocationto NTPC. Later some quantites were allocated to GSPC for supplies to city gas and small industries.

By Sankaralingam this wasnot the very first letter on the issue,he had earlier written in December last year and March, after which both Razdan and power minister Sushilkumar Shinde had written to petroleum secretary M S Srinivasan and oil minister Murli Deora asking for additional gas for NTPC.
