8 car models to be unveiled in India by Nissan by 2012
Japan’s third-biggest automaker company-Nissan Motor,is aimed to launch eight new models in India by 2012,in order to increase its sale by 100,000 per year in Asia’s fourth-largest economy.Further it is planning to launch the Murano crossover vehicle,an entry-level compact car and a light commercial vehicle.The company has aimed to establish around 55 dealers by 2012 and to achieve this Nissan has appointed Hover Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. to develop its sales network in India.
The French auto major Renault own about 44% of Japan’s third-biggest automaker and currently has just five dealerships in India , where it sells X-Trail sport utility vehicle and Teana sedan imported from Japan.A total of 533 vehicles were sold by Nissan in India last year.The eight new models will include the Murano crossover vehicle due for launch in 2009, an entry-level compact car powered with an engine between 1 liter and 1.2 liters and a light commercial vehicle, four of the new models will be locally produced.
Both the company-Nissan and Renault are also planning to build a Rs45bn (US$1.1bn) plant near Chennai in Tamil Nadu.And this greenfield facility will increase production in early 2010. Nissan is also looking forward to sign a joint venture with Renault and Bajaj Auto to develop and build a low-cost small car. 
The company has also signed an agreement to procure vehicles from Maruti Suzuki India, a local subsidiary of Suzuki Motor.
